The museum located by Lake Suwa in Nagano Prefecture, known as the "Harmo Museum," opened on April 26, 1990, with the concept of "Art and Simplicity." It mainly exhibits works from the Naïve art movement, showcasing various creations expressed from a perspective of innocence.
It is said that the museum houses approximately 400 pieces, including works by renowned artists such as Henri Rousseau and Camille Bombois, who are considered representatives of the Naïve art movement. The collection also features valuable works like George Rouault's series of etchings, which hold world-class significance.
On the second floor of the main building, which has a viewing window overlooking Lake Suwa, paintings primarily from the Naïve art movement are displayed. There is also a separate annex designed in a studio style with the theme "Enjoying Art in Life," where visitors are required to remove their shoes. In this comfortable space that feels like home, guests can leisurely appreciate sculptures, prints, and other works, which is one of the charms of the museum.
Additionally, there is a tea room called "Le Cafe d'Armony," where visitors can enjoy views of Lake Suwa and Mount Fuji. After admiring the artworks, guests can take a break here.
