About Hazudomisaki (Hazudo Cape)
Famous for its vast primeval forest, it is a walking spot located at the southernmost tip of the Chita Peninsula.
Details
Cape Hazu is located at the southernmost tip of the Chita Peninsula, at the port of Shisaki. This is also the departure and arrival point for high-speed boats to Himakajima and Shinojima. Most of the cape is covered by a primeval forest surrounding the sacred area of Hazu Shrine. The vast Ugaoka Quercus forest is designated as a national natural monument under the name "Hazu Shrine Forest."
Hazu Shrine is famous for its energy that promotes good relationships. The 800-meter path that runs through the forest is nicknamed the "Romantic Love Path," with dense Ugaoka Quercus trees creating a tunnel-like scenery that is very popular among worshippers. At the highest point of the cape, there is a wooden observation deck, and in front of the main hall of Hazu Shrine, there is a concrete observation deck that offers panoramic views of Mikawa Bay, Ise Bay, and the Atsumi Peninsula.
Walking along the coastline at dusk, one can see the beautiful sunset in the west. There is also a commemorative stone for the song "Cape Hazu," performed by the Nagoya idol group SKE48, which attracts many fans to visit.
