Hokkaido Jingu is located in the Chuo Ward of Sapporo City and is a representative shrine of Hokkaido. Its history is ancient, originating in 1869 under the decree of Emperor Meiji, when the "Three Deities of Development" were enshrined to provide spiritual support for the pioneers. Throughout the year, many travelers visit to pay their respects, especially on New Year's Day when over 700,000 visitors come. Additionally, Hokkaido Jingu is a famous spot for cherry blossom and plum blossom viewing. During the blooming season, around 1,100 cherry trees and approximately 120 plum trees blossom. The shrine is surrounded by a rich natural environment, and if you're lucky, you might even see wild Ezo squirrels and northern foxes. At Hokkaido Jingu, you can draw fortunes ranging from regular omikuji to various types such as "love fortunes" and "children's fortunes." English and Chinese versions are also available, so be sure to give it a try when you visit.
