The Iga-ryu Ninja Museum originated from the Iga-ryu Ninja House, which opened in 1964. It has now transformed into the Iga Ninja Museum, which, in addition to the ninja house, also houses ancient documents related to ninjas and ninjutsu from across the country, and features an experience hall and a heritage hall.
The "Mechanism Device Ninja House" inside may appear to be an ordinary farmhouse at first glance, but it is actually designed to protect the methods of gunpowder production and the secret techniques known as ninjutsu. Inside, there are mechanism doors, hidden stairs, and secret doors. Although ninjas are often thought to be skilled in using mechanical devices in combat, their main tasks involve hiding, surveillance, and escaping to avoid detection by enemies.
In the "Ninjutsu Experience Hall," visitors can see replicas based on ninjutsu texts, as well as actual ninja weapons such as shurikens, water spiders, and caltrops. The "Ninja Heritage Hall" introduces the lesser-known aspects of ninjas famous for their disguises, their knowledge, and their clever lifestyles, along with the "Ninja Mandala," a deity revered by Iga and Kōka ninjas.
Additionally, the Iga Ninja special forces group "Ashura" performs a "Ninjutsu Demonstration Show," using real weapons and props. Through thrilling and exciting demonstrations and explanations, visitors can learn how ninjas protect themselves and accomplish their missions. There is also an experience where participants can use real shurikens.
