🍜 Jiyuken Namba Main Store

📝 Introduction

A signature curry with a spicy and aromatic flavor, the recipe has been passed down for four generations.

📖 Details

Founded in 1910, it is Osaka's first Western-style restaurant, currently located in the center of Namba in the Minami district. The best-selling dish, "Signature Curry," is a favorite even of the renowned Japanese literary giant Oda Sakunosuke, known for his culinary expertise. Unlike typical curry that is poured over white rice, the signature curry is characterized by mixing white rice, curry sauce, and ingredients evenly in a pot before serving. The curry sauce, which has a spicy flavor, is based on beef tendon broth and tomato puree, enhanced with Japanese dashi for a rich taste that reflects a recipe passed down through four generations. Mixing in the raw egg yolk served with the dish makes the texture even smoother, or you can pair it with the Worcestershire sauce on the table for a different flavor experience. In addition to curry, a variety of classic Western dishes such as fried shrimp, hamburger steak, karaage chicken, and cream croquettes are also available.
