🗺️ Kakuzumida Bridge角島大橋

The Koshima Ohashi Bridge opened in 2000, connecting the mainland of Shimonoseki City in Yamaguchi Prefecture with Koshima Island. With a total length of 1,780 meters, it is one of the longest bridges to an island in Japan and is free to cross. Located within the Kitakanmon Coast National Park, the height of the bridge piers is set at 18 meters to harmonize with the surrounding landscape. The distance from the sea surface to the road is very close, allowing drivers to enjoy the thrill of driving while feeling the ocean nearby. Additionally, the bridge does not connect the mainland and Koshima Island in a straight line; it was intentionally designed to curve around the natural topography, bypassing the island of Hatojima in the middle, creating a beautifully graceful arc. There are several swimming beaches on both the mainland and Koshima Island, which are particularly popular in the summer. The sea reflects a cobalt blue glow, making it photogenic from any angle.
