Details

Kamuiwakka means "God's Water" in the Ainu language. This scenic spot, known as the "Hot Spring Waterfall," is located deep within Shiretoko National Park and is one of the "Eight Views of Shiretoko." The hot springs that flow from the active volcano Shiretoko Sulfur Mountain enter the Kamuiwakka River, and the activity of hiking upstream to the Kamuiwakka River is called the "God's Water Hot Spring Waterfall." Registration for this activity is required in advance, and it is recommended to confirm details beforehand. The river temperature at the starting point is about 25°C, and it rises as you walk upstream, reaching 35–38°C at the destination, "Shi no Taki" (Four Falls). The pool at the base of the waterfall serves as a natural open-air bath, allowing you to enjoy the pleasure of soaking in the water amidst nature. Before reaching the destination, you can experience the thrill of wading through rivers surrounded by pristine forests and the sense of accomplishment from climbing over various waterfalls, enjoying a unique experience not found elsewhere. During certain periods, shuttle buses operate, while at other times, only self-driving is allowed. As this is an adventure activity involving climbing in a natural river, there are various risks involved, so it is advisable to confirm the details before participating.
