About Kengo Kuma's Little Museum
Visit the cluster of buildings designed by Kengo Kuma scattered around Tawara Town.
Details
The exhibition board showcases six buildings designed by the world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma in Yusuhara Town, which is, as the name suggests, a small museum.
If you wish to visit the six buildings designed by the Japanese architectural master Kengo Kuma located in Yusuhara Town, it is recommended to visit the Kengo Kuma Small Museum in Kochi Prefecture. Inside, you can learn in-depth about architectural knowledge through models that explain the "Jigoku-gumi" wooden assembly technique used for the ceiling of the "Library in the Clouds," as well as displays of models for the "Museum in the Clouds," among others. Additionally, don't miss the video interview with Kengo Kuma himself.
The museum also features an onsen (hot spring) and pool that are available for bathing on the same day. Proudly utilizing the hot spring water from the last clear stream in Japan, the source area of the Shimanto River, it effectively soothes the fatigue of travel.
*Please note that the "Hotel in the Clouds" is currently undergoing renovations, and the exhibits are temporarily displayed at the original town hall building (construction is scheduled to continue until March 2024).
Highlights
Introduce the six architectural facilities designed by Kengo Kuma located in Yuhara Town using an explanatory board, which can serve as a base for architectural tours. The use of models to explain architectural techniques allows for in-depth learning. It is recommended to experience the cloud-top hot springs and swimming pool.
