The complex facility "KITAcolor (キタカラ)" located in Wakkanai. It was named through a public selection process, embodying the meaning of "Starting from Wakkanai, the northernmost point in Japan, dyeing all of Japan and the world with KITA (North) COLOR."
Not only is it directly connected to Wakkanai Station, the starting point of the JR Sōya Main Line, but it also features a bus terminal with local route buses and long-distance buses to Wakkanai and Sapporo. Serving as a roadside rest area, it provides tourist and transportation information as well as a space for relaxation, making it a hub for various public transportation transfers. The second-floor atrium area is equipped with benches, allowing for comfortable waiting for trains and buses even in the cold winter months.
