About Koyama Park
Enjoy the beautiful flowers, grasses, and trees of the four seasons at "Hakone Mountain," the highest point along the Yamanote Line.
Details
Located in Shinjuku, Toyama Park is divided into two main sections. One part is the Hakone-yama area, centered around "Hakone-yama," the highest point along the Yamanote Line, while the other part is the Okubo area, separated by Meiji Avenue.
Although Hakone-yama has an elevation of only 44.6 meters, it is the highest peak within the Yamanote Line. Climbing to the summit not only offers a view of the park's scenery but also a panoramic view of Shinjuku's skyscrapers. Additionally, many Somei Yoshino cherry trees are planted around Hakone-yama, making it a popular cherry blossom viewing spot when spring arrives, attracting large crowds.
The surrounding Okubo area features the Shinjuku Sports Center and a lawn plaza, making it a great place for sports and leisure activities.
Highlights
The highest artificial mountain within the Yamanote Line, "Hakone-yama," is renowned as a cherry blossom viewing spot. In the summer, it is a place where children from toddlers to preschoolers can enjoy playing in the water at the Hakone-yama park's wading pool. The nearby Anahachiman Shrine is the site of the Yabusame festival, which takes place every October.
