Details
Kyūzuryū Lake is an artificial lake formed by the construction of a dam that intercepts the Kyūzuryū River. The dam stands 128 meters high and 355 meters wide, creating a grand spectacle, further enhanced by the majestic mountains surrounding it. Every spring, the lakeside is painted a soft pink by cherry blossoms. Along the 15-kilometer road, approximately 2,000 trees of Somei Yoshino, yamazakura, and yaezakura bloom.
Every spring, the lakeside is painted a soft pink by cherry blossoms. Along the 15-kilometer road, approximately 2,000 trees of Somei Yoshino, yamazakura, and yaezakura bloom. The cherry trees have been planted for over 50 years, and some branches grow lushly, creating a spectacular sight. The blooming period is around late April, which is 2 to 3 weeks later than in the city.
There is a car camping area nearby. In summer, outdoor activities such as canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) allow visitors to enjoy water fun. In autumn, the foliage can be admired, and in winter, the snow can be enjoyed, allowing for a full appreciation of the beauty of nature throughout the seasons.
