Located in the central part of Kyoto Prefecture, the Kyoto Tamba Highlands National Park features vast forests and clear rivers, as well as traditional thatched-roof houses in "Miyama Kayabuki no Sato," preserving the original scenery of rural Japan. The "Kyoto Tamba Highlands National Park Visitor Center" is the first stop for visitors to Miyama Town. Here, not only is local tourism information provided, but it also serves as a hub for promoting the intersection of nature and culture with the concept of "Understanding the Origin of Wood, Protecting the Forest." Inside the exhibition area, large photo displays recreate the corridors of old farmhouses, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of the local nature and culture. There are also seasonal exhibitions and a museum shop where you can find handmade goods made from natural materials and books available for selection. Additionally, you can rent electric bicycles to enjoy the pleasure of riding amidst the surrounding beautiful scenery. Feel free to ask the staff for the best scenic routes to make your trip more enriching and fulfilling.

What is the transportation method from the Visitor Service Center to "Miyama Kayabuki no Sato"?

About 6 kilometers from the customer service center, it takes about 10 minutes by car. You can also take the city bus (please check the timetable separately). Renting an electric bike takes about 30 minutes and allows you to enjoy the scenery along the way.

Can you walk freely in the "Aoshō no Mori (Aoshō Research Forest)"?

Due to the presence of dangerous plants and animals in the area, along with the hazardous terrain and its status as a protected area, visitors wishing to explore must join a guided tour (Lusheng Forest People Association/paid).
