About Makizaki Fū no Kōen (Makizaki Wind Park)
A park where you can feel the beauty of nature with your whole body, allowing people to relax both physically and mentally.
Details
At the northernmost point of Kakuzushima, "Makizaki Wind Park" offers a dynamic and majestic natural landscape. The area is known for its clusters of Daruma Chrysanthemums (flowering season from late October to mid-November). Walking along the well-maintained trails, visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers while taking in views of the Sea of Japan. In spring and summer, a refreshing sea breeze blows, while in winter, one can witness the waves crashing against the coast.
The horizon viewed from the northern tip is breathtaking. The endless blue of the Sea of Japan, the sky, and the grasslands create a picturesque scene. The coastline, shaped by ancient volcanic activity, features unique columnar jointing that displays nature's immense power with its orderly arrangement of column-like textures. The rock walls, illuminated by the setting sun, also add a dreamlike atmosphere worth seeing.
In front of Makizaki Wind Park lies a pasture that has been operating since the Nara period, where cattle are grazed. If you're lucky, you might see herds of cows grazing peacefully. It's the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and relax both body and mind.
