"Otokoyama" is a renowned sake from Hokkaido with a history of about 350 years. The "Otokoyama Sake Brewery Museum," which conveys the history and tradition of sake brewing, is operated by the brewery "Otokoyama Co., Ltd.," which manufactures and sells "Otokoyama." Inside the museum, in addition to displaying brewing tools from the 17th century when "Otokoyama" was produced, there are also videos introducing the production process. Precious artistic and cultural materials depicting "Otokoyama" can be found in paintings and ancient documents from that time, making them a must-see highlight.
Visitors can also sample "Otokoyama," which has won the Monde Selection Gold Award for over 40 consecutive years. Additionally, they can taste this representative sake of Japan, which has received numerous awards in domestic and international liquor competitions. The museum sells rare items such as "seasonal limited" and "museum exclusive" products, as well as a wide variety of merchandise including sake vessels, aprons, and T-shirts.
Furthermore, visitors can enjoy free access to the "Enmei Chōju Water" used in brewing "Otokoyama." Surprisingly, the伏流水 from the great Daisetsuzan mountain, which nurtures this fine sake, is also available for takeout (up to 18 liters).
