Located in the mountains, May Mountain Park offers various recreational facilities and serves as a place for the citizens of Ikeda City in Osaka Prefecture to relax. May Mountain is a renowned cherry blossom viewing spot in the northern Kawachi region. Every year in early April, during the blooming season, the "May Mountain Cherry Blossom Festival" is held, making it one of Osaka's famous cherry blossom viewing locations. In addition to the azaleas and cherry blossoms in spring, the autumn foliage is also spectacular, attracting numerous visitors for flower and leaf viewing throughout the year. The park has planned hiking trails, allowing visitors to enjoy the seasonal scenery of nature while walking. The park features a spacious lawn area loved by children, large playground equipment, and an observation deck that offers a panoramic view of the Osaka Plain. There is also the "May Mountain Zoo," where visitors can see Tasmania's wombats, alpacas, and emus—the largest number of which are kept in the country—and have the opportunity to feed or touch sheep and rabbits.
