About Meguro Sky Garden
Located on the rooftop of a high-speed system interchange, a lush urban oasis.
Details
Utilizing the rooftop of the capital's expressway Ohashi system interchange, a circular rooftop garden with a circumference of 400 meters has been established in Meguro Ward's public park.
The circular park, designed using the shape of the interchange, features a height difference ranging from 11 meters to 35 meters, allowing access from various points such as the ground, pedestrian overpass, and elevators. There is a deck that leads directly to the 9th floor of the "Cross Air Tower," a skyscraper that houses the Meguro Ward Library and a supermarket. This location is also the highest point in the park, offering views of Mount Fuji on clear days.
The park includes several areas with different themes, such as the "Garden of Four Seasons," where flowers bloom throughout the year, the bamboo-style "Hospitality Garden," and the diverse "Leisure Plaza," which features Japanese gardens and grassy squares. These areas are interconnected by pathways, and the lush greenery makes visitors forget they are in the city. Numerous spots are equipped with benches and tables with roofs, allowing visitors to bring their own meals for a picnic. At night, the park is illuminated, creating a different atmosphere that makes for pleasant evening strolls.
