The Miyajima Aquarium is located on Miyajima, famous for the World Heritage Site "Itsukushima Shrine." It is about a 5-minute walk from the shrine exit, making it convenient to include in your itinerary. To match the historic landscape of Miyajima, the building features a traditional Japanese roof that leaves a strong impression.
Inside, the aquarium showcases 380 species, with over 15,000 marine animals including fish and mammals. There are various exhibits related to the local area, including a display tank for the dolphins that inhabit the Seto Inland Sea and areas that recreate the landscapes of Miyajima and the Hiroshima mountains. There are also 10 unique zones, such as the marine animal area featuring northern sea lions and Asian small-clawed otters, as well as a penguin pool where visitors can watch penguins glide overhead.
As an "interactive experience" aquarium, it hosts fun sea lion shows in the performance pool every day, along with opportunities to interact with penguins, otters, and seals, as well as various feeding activities for fish and sea dogs.

Visitors who wish to re-enter the facility can get a hand stamp. On that day, re-entry is allowed an unlimited number of times.
