About Morioka Takuboku and Kenji Youth Museum
Recalling the youth of the poet "Ishikawa Takuboku" and the fairy tale writer "Miyazawa Kenji" spent in Morioka.
Details
The Morioka Takuboku and Kenji Youth Museum is a resource museum established in the former main building of the "Ninety Bank" built in 1910 (Meiji 43). The building itself has now been designated as an important cultural property of the country. Inside the museum, various exhibitions introduce the poet "Ishikawa Takuboku," who spent his youth in Morioka, and the fairy tale writer "Miyazawa Kenji," as well as the city of Morioka that inspired the artistic spirits of these two famous figures.
In the permanent exhibition room on the first floor, large panels featuring numerous photographs present the youthful years of Takuboku and Kenji, who were ten years apart in age, along with people related to them. Through glass cases, visitors can also see precious materials such as their first edition books. Additionally, the "Light and Sound Experience Room SUBARU," created from what was once a valuable bank vault, is not to be missed. The vibrant lighting and stunning sound effects make visitors feel as if they are aboard the Galaxy Railway, touring proud Morioka attractions such as the ruins of Morioka Castle and the Ishiwari Cherry Blossoms.
On the spacious second floor exhibition hall, special exhibitions related to Takuboku and Kenji, as well as art exhibitions related to Morioka, are held throughout the year. Periodic concerts are also very popular.
