About Nagayu Onsen (Nagayu Hot Spring)
Use a carbonated hot spring filled with small bubbles to eliminate toxins from the body.
Details
Nagayu Onsen is famous for its high concentration of carbonated hot springs. It is praised as "Japan's premier carbonated spring" based on the concentration of carbon dioxide in the spring sources, the amount of hot spring water, and the temperature of the spring water.
The spring quality consists of two systems: bicarbonate springs and simple carbon dioxide springs. Due to the rich carbon dioxide content, countless tiny bubbles cling densely to the skin while soaking in the hot spring. Carbon dioxide has the function of expanding capillaries and improving blood circulation, providing relief for symptoms such as neuralgia, muscle pain, and physical fatigue. The local tradition of drinking spring water has been quite popular for a long time, and a short song has been passed down, conveying the idea that "drinking is effective, and long soaks are effective too; Nagayu Onsen is a remedy for the heart and gastrointestinal tract." This shows that the benefits of drinking carbonated spring water have been recognized by people.
A clear river, the Serikawa, flows gently through the hot spring town. Along the riverside, there are many hot spring facilities, including the outdoor hot spring "Crab Bath," where you can wear swimsuits, the "LAMUNE Onsen Hall," which features a self-dispensing carbonated spring drinking area, and "Kur Park Nagayu," built based on German spa facilities.
Highlights
High-concentration carbonated spring water is also drinkable. There is frequent exchange with German spa culture, and facilities that incorporate German spa therapy methods are available. There is a "Crab Bath" where spring water flows from the Serikawa, allowing visitors to soak in their swimsuits. The unique architectural styles of the "LAMUNE Spa" and "Kur Park Nagayu" are also worth a visit. Dr. Takeyuki Matsuo, a specialist in spa therapy, praised the springs here as "effective when consumed and also effective for long soaks! It is a 'blood medicine' for treating the heart and gastrointestinal tract."
