🎎 Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival

📝 Introduction

The dazzling waves of the Yodo River, symbolizing "Water City Osaka," are a summer spectacle.

📖 Details

The location of the Naniwa Fireworks Festival is on the Yodo River, which flows through the center of Osaka and symbolizes "Water City Osaka." The funding for the fireworks festival comes from donations by thirteen businesses and organizations around the venue, organized and managed by local volunteers as a handmade fireworks event. It was originally named the "Heisei Yodo River Fireworks Festival" when it started in 1989, and was renamed to its current title in 2006. After being canceled for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021, it resumed in 2022. With a width of 500 meters, the long series of fireworks displays reflect on the river's surface, creating a breathtaking performance where the music and fireworks are synchronized. It's no wonder that it attracts about 450,000 tourists each year. There are paid sponsor viewing areas and general free viewing areas set up along the riverbed on the Juso side of the Yodo River. The sight of various fireworks being launched against the backdrop of skyscrapers in the Umeda area is a spectacular view that can only be seen in urban areas. Additionally, access to the riverbed facing the Umeda area is completely prohibited, so please take special note of this. *Due to the Osaka Expo, it will be held in October 2025.*
