About Naoshima, the Station by the Sea

The uniquely styled and innovative ferry terminal adds more color to Naoshima, which is already filled with an artistic atmosphere.

Details

The Sea Station Naoshima is the ferry terminal at Naoshima's Miyanoura Port. A large roof supported by white columns covers the entire area, with facilities such as a café, bus and ferry waiting rooms, and a tourist information center arranged like transparent glass boxes scattered beneath the roof. The innovative and bold design reflects the unique style of Naoshima, the island of art. Inside the building, filled with an artistic atmosphere, people are either waiting for their ferry or bus, enjoying the scenery and refreshments at the café, or preparing to drive onto the ferry. The terminal serves as the gateway for welcoming and sending off tourists to Naoshima. Next to the café, there is a shop selling local specialties, where you can buy cute Naoshima macarons and seaweed from the Seto Inland Sea as souvenirs.

Highlights

The ferry terminal has a unique style and an artistic atmosphere. You can see Yayoi Kusama's creation, "Red Pumpkin." In the souvenir shop, you can buy various local specialty products.
