Okuhida Onsen Village is composed of five hot spring areas: Hirayu Onsen, Fukuchi Onsen, Shin-Hirayu Onsen, Tochio Onsen, and Shin-Hotaka Onsen. Nestled in the embrace of the Northern Alps, it features open-air baths blessed by nature. Here, you can fully enjoy the seasonal beauty woven by the mountains and forests in the abundant natural hot springs.
Hirayu Onsen is the oldest among the hot springs in Okuhida Onsen Village. This legendary famous spring is said to have been discovered by a retainer of the Takeda clan from Kōshū during their attack on Hida. Located at the foot of Mount Norikura, it was also a resting place for the daimyō of Hokuriku during the Edo period.
The other four hot springs include Fukuchi Onsen, which is associated with the legend of the Heike clan's defeated warriors; Shin-Hirayu Onsen, known for its bustling atmosphere and abundant spring water; and Tochio Onsen, which is popular for its affordable accommodations and thriving stream fishing, well-known as the gateway to the Northern Alps, with magnificent scenery just within reach.

Getting There
Take the Nohi Bus from the Nohi Bus Center at Takayama Station on the JR Takayama Main Line, and you can reach "Hirayu Onsen," "Fukuchi Onsen," "Shin-Hirayu Onsen," "Tochio Onsen," and "Shin-Hotaka Onsen" by getting off at each respective stop.
