About Red Mountain Viewing Platform
The observation deck offers a distant view of Taketomi Island.
Details
The observation deck offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Taketomi Island. This uniquely designed observation deck is built on the roof of a private residence. The well-known "Wani no Tō" (和の塔) was closed in 2016 due to aging, and the Akayama Observation Deck has since replaced it as a new popular attraction.
Located in the central area of the western settlement of Taketomi Island, the Akayama Observation Deck is just a stone's throw away from the tourist spot "Wani no Tō" (和の塔), allowing visitors to enjoy the original scenery of Okinawa with its rows of red-tiled houses. This rare two-story building on Taketomi Island was used as a filming location for a TV drama as a guesthouse (please note that it is not an actual accommodation facility).
The entrance fee is 100 yen per person. Next to the entrance of the observation deck, there is a coin box decorated with a cute Okinawan shisa (獅子) where you can drop in your 100 yen to enter. Climb the stairs to reach the spacious observation deck. Enjoy a leisurely time taking in the views under the comfortable breeze of Taketomi Island.
