📜 Content

Rikugien, located in Tokyo, is a strolling-style garden centered around a pond. This typical Japanese garden began construction in 1695 and took seven years to complete. It is now designated as a special national scenic site and is known alongside Koishikawa Korakuen as one of the "two great gardens of Edo." Rikugien is a famous spot in Tokyo for cherry blossom viewing and autumn foliage. Every spring, from March, a special nighttime illumination event called "Spring Night Special Viewing" is held; in the autumn, from mid-November to early December, the "Autumn Leaves Night Special Viewing" is conducted. Under the lights, the solemn and serene Japanese garden appears mysterious and beautiful, leaving visitors in awe of the enchanting scenery created in harmony with nature and Rikugien. Among its attractions, the weeping cherry tree (shidarezakura) stands about 15 meters tall and 20 meters wide and is a landmark of Rikugien. Additionally, in the Blow-up Teahouse (Fukiage Chaya) within the garden, visitors can enjoy matcha and Japanese sweets while overlooking the landscape. Souvenirs such as letter paper representing Rikugien are also available for purchase.
