About Saga Balloon Museum
Experience the joy of hot air ballooning happily through images and flight simulators!
Details
The Saga Balloon Museum is the first facility in Japan themed around hot air balloons. Visitors can learn a lot about hot air balloons through the displayed structures and history. The museum can be visited at any time of the year, especially during Saga City's large autumn event, the "Saga International Balloon Festival."
Here, the achievements of hot air balloon enthusiasts who continuously challenge the skies are showcased, along with the hot air balloon that successfully completed Japan's first manned mission 50 years ago. Visitors can also enjoy stunning visuals in the immersive 280-inch ultra-high-definition cinema and experience the sensation of controlling a hot air balloon over Saga using a flight simulator. The rich display content ensures that both adults and children can have fun. Puzzle-solving competitions such as "How do balloons fly?" and "What do balloon races actually compete in?" are also very popular.
The museum periodically holds workshops for children to make balloon keychains. In the souvenir shop, visitors can purchase various foods and sweets representing Saga Prefecture, as well as balloon-themed merchandise and souvenirs. Additionally, the attached café offers light meals such as curry and pasta made with local ingredients.
