About Saitama Aquarium
Encounter 70 species of fish living in the Saitama and Tokyo river basin!
Details
Saitama Aquarium showcases aquatic animals that inhabit the Arakawa River basin. The Arakawa River flows through Saitama Prefecture and Tokyo, eventually emptying into Tokyo Bay. It is said that among the 86 species of fish currently found in Saitama Prefecture, as many as 70 species can be seen at Saitama Aquarium. Notably, some of these aquatic animals have been designated as natural monuments. The aquarium employs an interesting display method that starts from the upstream and flows downstream to where the river meets the sea. Additionally, there is a "Goldfish Giant Egg" where visitors can observe fish from the bottom of the tank, providing an immersive experience in the world of goldfish. The aquarium also features tropical fish from around the world and allows visitors to feed 1-meter-long grass carp, bluegill, and koi in the garden pond.
