About Shibuya Drinking Alley
The izakaya street full of Showa-era charm next to Shibuya Station.
Details
Shibuya Nonbei Yokocho is a narrow alley located next to the train tracks at Shibuya Station, featuring about 40 small, cozy izakayas filled with nostalgic charm. Among these izakayas, some focus on serving traditional Japanese home-cooked dishes or rural cuisine, while others are small bars or eateries, each with its own unique style. The operating hours for most establishments generally range from 6:00 PM to midnight, with some starting to serve food as early as 4:00 PM, and a few staying open past midnight. Each shop is relatively small, typically accommodating only 6 to 10 seats (some establishments also have seating on the second floor).
Highlights
Walking through the narrow alleyways lined with noren and signs feels like traveling back in time. You can enjoy drinks and engage in conversation with the unique shop owners and customers, sharing a joyful moment together. You can taste the carefully selected specialty sake and original dishes prepared by the establishment. Female friends need not worry about dining alone, as they can easily enter the shop to enjoy fine food and drinks. It is recommended to savor the homemade dishes made by the female owner before heading to a small bar for a toast, enjoying the pleasure of continuing the drinking experience.
