The "Umikyuukan" boasts rich features that other aquariums do not have, making it a charming aquarium. Inside, there are many exhibits showcasing the unique characteristics of Shimonoseki, including a tank that recreates the beautiful tides of the Kanmon Straits and the largest variety of pufferfish displays in the world, including the tiger pufferfish and the Mambo fish. There are also various captivating activities such as joint dolphin and sea lion shows, and performances featuring the Yangtze River dolphin creating bubbles. Additionally, in Japan's largest penguin exhibit, "Penguin Village," there are five species of penguins, approximately 120 in total, that inhabit both the Antarctic and temperate climate zones. Other exhibits include one of the few remaining complete blue whale skeletons in the world, which is truly impressive in scale. The aquarium also features a restaurant and a gift shop where visitors can dine or purchase souvenirs. There are many exclusive products available only at Umikyuukan, including items designed with pufferfish themes, offering a wide variety of choices.

Shimonoseki, known as the "Pufferfish Capital," features a unique pufferfish exhibition area where you can see up to a hundred different types of pufferfish.
