🗺️ Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho (Shinjuku Memory Lane)

Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho is located about a 2-minute walk from the west exit of Shinjuku Station. It is a narrow alley lined with shops selling various tickets and many traditional izakayas. There are approximately 80 shops in the alley where you can enjoy a variety of delicious Japanese dishes and drinks. Most of the shops are traditional longhouse-style buildings, separated by just a wooden panel, creating a strong retro atmosphere. Around 1947, Shinjuku, located at a transportation hub, thrived as a center for the movement of people and goods. At that time, izakayas serving beef and pork offal as ingredients were very popular, which is why many old shops in Omoide Yokocho still offer traditional Tokyo flavors like grilled chicken skewers and offal skewers. In addition to the many long-established izakayas that have been passed down through generations, in recent years, several trendy bars have also appeared in the alley, allowing visitors to enjoy both the old and new tastes of Tokyo simultaneously.
