🗺️ Tachimata Cape立待岬

Cape Rittō is located on the southeastern part of Mount Hakodate, facing the Tsugaru Strait. Surrounded by the sea, the cliffs rise majestically at an elevation of about 30 meters, offering a spectacular view. On clear days, one can gaze across the Tsugaru Strait to the Shimokita Peninsula and take in the entire cityscape of Hakodate. In the summer, Hokkaido's representative flower, the Hamanasu (ハマナス), blooms with delicate pink flowers, making it a well-known spot for flower viewing. Nearby is the Rittōmachi Rest Area "HAMANASU." The shops here sell ice cream, drinks, grilled corn, baked potatoes, large Frankfurt sausages, soba noodles, oden, grilled scallops, and shellfish, making it worth a visit. The seafood skewers enjoyed in the coastal area are truly a delicacy. This vast landscape has served as the backdrop for many novels and stories. It is also a literary pilgrimage site, as the famous modern Japanese poets Yosano Tekkan (与謝野寛) and Yosano Akiko (与謝野晶子) visited and erected a stone monument here.
