📝 Introduction

At an elevation of 700 meters, the observation deck offers a panoramic view of cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and the surrounding mountains.

📖 Details

Yoshimosu Shrine, registered as a World Heritage site, is located in the Okusenbon area of Yoshinoyama, at the highest elevation. A 10-minute walk along the mountain path leads to the Takagiyama Observatory, which is the site of the castle used by Prince Moriyoshi as a base during the "Genko War" against the Kamakura Shogunate. From the observatory, situated at an altitude of about 700 meters, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Yoshinoyama and the neighboring mountains, Kongōsan and Katsuragisan, providing a feast for the eyes for hikers and tourists alike. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom in front of the observatory, while in autumn, the paths are covered with a vibrant red carpet of maple leaves. The observatory features a spacious roofed resting area and several benches, making it convenient for travelers to eat or rest. The distance from the Yoshinoyama Station of the Yoshino Ōmine Ropeway to the observatory is approximately 4 kilometers. It takes about 80 minutes to walk, or about 20 minutes by route bus to reach Okusenboko. From Okusenboko, it is only a 15-minute walk down to the observatory, saving quite a bit of time. Additionally, there are buses that stop at the Takagiyama Observatory on the way down, which can be quite useful. However, there is only one bus per hour, so please pay special attention to the schedule.
