About Takase Mori Springs Tunnel Park
The tunnel is equipped with fountains, creating a dreamy space.
Details
The 2-kilometer-long Takamori Spring Water Tunnel boasts a rich flow of spring water, with approximately 550 meters of it transformed into a park. The tunnel was originally part of a railway excavation project planned by the former National Railways, but during construction, a significant amount of water gushed into the tunnel. Subsequently, repeated flooding incidents led to the suspension of the project. Today, part of the tunnel has been developed into a park, where visitors can stroll along the pathways inside the tunnel and also visit the Water Source Museum, "Yusui-kan," to learn about the importance of water and the history of the tunnel.
The temperature inside the tunnel is around 17 degrees Celsius year-round, making it cool in summer and warm in winter. Walking along the pathway to the water source, there is a specially installed water feature ahead. The water feature, "Mizubeads," uses special sound waves to shape the water into spheres, illuminated to create a dreamy atmosphere. Each year in July during the "Tanabata Festival" and in December for "Christmas Fantasy," the tunnel is adorned with various lights.
Highlights
