⛩️ The Pond of Nendo Shrine (Monet's Pond)
🎨 Shrine Gallery
📝 Introduction
Like the world of landscapes in Monet's paintings, an unnamed beautiful pond.
📖 Details
Next to the path leading to the Nedomoto Shrine in Itadori, Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, there is an unnamed pond. In this clear and transparent pond, colorful koi fish gracefully swim among the water plants, creating a beautiful scene reminiscent of Claude Monet's "Water Lilies," which has led to it being referred to as the "Monet Pond."
This pond is formed by the convergence of spring water from the mountains, and its high transparency allows the water to change into various shades of clear, blue, and green depending on the intensity of the light at different times of the day, which is one of its charms.
The best time to visit is from mid-June to early August when the water lilies are in full bloom. From late June to early July, visitors can also enjoy the scenery created by the hydrangeas blooming near the pond. The Itadori area where the pond is located is also known for its hydrangea viewing spots. During the blooming season, there are attractions such as the "Hydrangea Path" and "Hydrangea Garden" covered in hydrangeas, which are recommended to visit together.
Additionally, there are maple trees surrounding the pond, and during the autumn foliage season (around November), the red maple leaves reflect beautifully on the pond's surface, while the winter snow scenery offers a unique charm as well.
