One of the "Three Great Benzaiten Shrines" in Japan. It consists of three shrines: "Benzu Shrine," "Nakatsu Shrine," and "Okutsu Shrine," and is said to bless good relationships, enhance financial luck, and improve artistic skills. The island also has several other attractions worth seeing. There is the "Bronze Torii" built in the mid-Edo period, the "Sakura Gate" designed to resemble Ryugu Castle, the "Zuishin Gate" adorned with paintings of peonies on its walls and ceiling, the "Yasaka Shrine" featuring a copper-roofed main hall, and the "Ryugu" located next to Okutsu Shrine. Throughout the year, various festivals and events are held, including the Akiba Shrine Annual Festival, Setsubun Festival, and Ryugu Annual Festival. Among them, the early April "Hatsu-mi Grand Festival" and the October "Koshiki Hatsu-iri Festival" are known as the two major annual festivals, with a long history passed down since the founding of Akiba Shrine. Additionally, during the "Yasaka Shrine Annual Festival" in July, a five-day event takes place, bustling with numerous vendors and a large influx of tourists. The highlight of the event, the "Shinkō Festival," features men dressed in loincloths carrying a portable shrine while shouting "yoiyo-yoiyo" as they walk into the sea, creating a spectacular scene.
