📝 Introduction

Surrounded by lakes and greenery, there is an ancient shrine that blesses those seeking to conceive and ensures safe childbirth.

📖 Details

Yamanaka Suwa Shrine is said to have been established in 966 and is an ancient shrine dedicated to Toyotama-hime no Mikoto as the main deity. The main hall was built in 1552 when Takeda Shingen prayed for protection at Yamanaka Suwa Shrine during his battle against the Hojo clan. It was later reconstructed in 1684 and is located on the west side of Lake Yamanaka, one of the Fuji Five Lakes. Yamanaka Suwa Shrine is primarily known for prayers for marriage, childbirth, safe delivery, and child-rearing. The annual festival "Yamanaka Myojin Anzan Matsuri," held from September 4 to 6, bestows blessings and has historically attracted many pregnant women and newlywed women, making it a nationally renowned festival event. In the forest behind Yamanaka Suwa Shrine, a walking trail has been developed for leisurely strolls, allowing visitors to enjoy hydrangeas, dogwoods, maple trees, mountain lilies, thistles, and various wildflowers and trees throughout the seasons. Additionally, Lake Yamanaka is visited by many birdwatchers and is known as a treasure trove of wild birds, with the sounds of bird calls echoing along the walking path. There are also flying squirrels that inhabit the area, and in early summer, young flying squirrels can be seen gliding through the forest, providing a chance to witness their graceful aerial movements. It is recommended to take a walk along the nature-filled trail after visiting Yamanaka Suwa Shrine.
