Lake Yamanaka has an area of approximately 6.57 square kilometers and is situated at an elevation of about 980.5 meters, making it the third highest lake in Japan. It is also the closest lake to Mount Fuji among the "Fuji Five Lakes," showcasing beautiful scenery in harmony with the majestic Mount Fuji throughout the seasons. Because of the many beautiful swans that can be seen, it is also known as "Swan Lake."
Around the lakeside, in addition to blooming tulips in spring, sunflowers in summer, and cosmos flowers in autumn, visitors can enjoy the stunning autumn foliage and the snow-capped Mount Fuji in winter, making it a year-round destination for sightseeing.
Due to its elevation of about 1,000 meters, the climate is similar to that of Hokkaido, making it a well-known summer retreat. In summer, activities such as BBQs, camping, water sports, and fishing attract many visitors. Popular attractions around Lake Yamanaka include "Oshino Hakkai," "Flower Park," and "Yamanaka Lake Panorama," and the cycling path that circles the lake is also quite popular.
Additionally, visitors can take a sightseeing boat called "Swan Lake" or the amphibious bus "KABA" to easily experience the natural beauty of Lake Yamanaka.
