Since its opening in 1978, the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art has been well-known by the nickname "Miller Museum." The museum houses 70 works by Jean-François Millet. A major highlight is the opportunity to view Millet's masterpieces such as "The Sower" and "The Gleaners - Summer" up close.
In addition to Millet, the museum boasts nearly 10,000 precious collections, including works by Barbizon painters depicting naturalistic landscapes and peasant life, as well as pieces by artists from Yamanashi Prefecture, such as Yokoyama Taikan. The collection is updated four times a year, ensuring that each visit offers new artworks to admire.
Located within the Art Forest Park, the museum features sculptures by renowned artists such as Rodin and Henry Moore. On clear days, visitors can enjoy a distant view of Mount Fuji from the garden, creating a wonderful space where art and nature blend seamlessly.
