Goyen Yokoten is a commercial facility located in front of the main gate of Izumo Taisha. It features traditional wooden longhouse architecture reminiscent of the Edo period and brings together local delicacies made from ingredients sourced in Shimane Prefecture, as well as a wide variety of souvenir shops. Inside the facility, there are many charming local foods, including Izumo soba, which is known as one of Japan's three major soba varieties. The soba is ground with its husk, allowing you to enjoy the natural aroma of buckwheat. There are also sushi and seafood bowls made with the premium fish "Nodoguro," as well as fried chicken and chicken burgers made from Shimane's local chicken "Ryoyama Akadori." Additionally, there is "Izumo red bean soup" to enjoy after visiting, takeout foods perfect for a stroll, and local beers from nearby breweries that are worth trying.
