About Yushui Garden, Siming Villa
About 3,000 tons of water per day! A Japanese garden accompanied by a spring.
Details
Since ancient times, Shimabara City in Nagasaki Prefecture, which boasts abundant natural springs, has been known as the "Water City." Among its urban areas, the Shinmachi district is particularly famous for residents utilizing the springs to beautify their living environment, where you can see waterways with koi swimming leisurely everywhere you walk.
Located in this area is the "Yusui Garden Shimeiso," a vast garden covering over 187 tsubo (approximately 617 square meters). Built during the Meiji era, it is named for its bright and beautiful scenery. The garden features various ponds, with a daily spring water output of up to 3,000 tons. The highly transparent water is crystal clear, with koi swimming in the ponds, surrounded by greenery such as red pines and maple trees, creating a stunningly beautiful landscape.
The main building, with its wooden tiled roof, appears to float on the pond, and there are corridors extending into the pond that can be used for walking. It is worth enjoying a moment of refined elegance and relaxation in this garden, designated as a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
