Heiwadori Shopping Park is a pedestrian paradise that extends about 1 kilometer from JR Asahikawa Station, and it is also a bustling main road in Asahikawa. Opened in 1972, it is Japan's first permanent pedestrian street, featuring large stores and various specialty shops, as well as beauty salons and dining establishments, with a wide array of shops lining the area. Here, you can not only enjoy shopping but also indulge in a rich variety of cuisine. From the bento shop "Shichifuku Bento Suzuki Shoten," which has been in operation for over 60 years, and the long-established wagashi shop "Nichirin," to the dining establishments, fruit shops, and liquor retail stores on both sides of the alley, there are 18 unique shops lined up in the "5・7 Alley Furarito." In the Asahikawa area, famous for its ramen, the oldest ramen shop, "Hachiya Gojō Sōsaku-ten," is also among them. The entire street features fountains and several bronze sculptures, including "Young Woman" by Tadayoshi Sato, along with benches for resting, making it a culturally and artistically rich walking path. During the winter festival, it also becomes the venue for the Ice Sculpture World Championship, transforming the entire street into a romantic and dreamlike landscape.
