🗺️ Asamayahara Park - Ukimidō

📝 Introduction

The grand hall, seemingly floating on the pond, is elegant and graceful, serving as the highlight of the waterside scenery.

📖 Details

In the vast "Nara Park," there are several cultural heritage sites scattered throughout, among which "Asagohara" is located in a corner of Nara Park. The southern side of the park extends from the hill where the first torii gate of "Kasuga-taisha" is located all the way to the southern approach of the main shrine, showcasing a landscape rich in topographical variations. Notably, the view of the "Ukimi-do" on the heron pond is particularly breathtaking. Built in 1916, the "Ukimi-do," which appears to float on the heron pond, is a hall made of cypress bark and is a popular resting place by the water. The area is lush with greenery, with cherry blossoms in spring, crepe myrtle in summer, and autumn leaves adding color to the pond's edge. The reflection of Ukimi-do and the surrounding forest on the surface of the pond is worth seeing. Additionally, there are nighttime illuminations held throughout the year, allowing visitors to enjoy a dreamlike atmosphere different from that of the daytime. During the spring and autumn seasons, there is a boat rental service (for a fee) available on the heron pond. Visitors can paddle a boat from the pond's edge to view Ukimi-do or leisurely admire the rich natural scenery within the park.

⭐ Highlights

Located within Nara Park, it is a scenic spot rich in natural beauty. The Fumin-dō floating on the Sagi Pond is breathtakingly beautiful. At night, Fumin-dō is illuminated, creating a rather dreamy scene.
