📖 Details

Ashikaga Flower Park is a highly popular destination that attracts travelers from both Japan and abroad. The park features eight main flower viewing themes designed to create a charming floral world and a romantic atmosphere that changes with the seasons. The eight themes are "Welcoming Spring," "Spring Flower Festival," "Wisteria Story," "Rainbow Garden," "World of Blue and White," "Flower Fairies by the Waterside," "Purple Garden," and "Garden of Light," making it a paradise of flowers, plants, and trees throughout the year. Among these, the "Wisteria Story," themed around wisteria, is the most popular. Wisteria is the symbol of the park and is designated as a natural monument in Tochigi Prefecture. In line with the best viewing period of the four large wisteria trees and the white wisteria tunnel, the park holds the "Wisteria Story - Great Wisteria Flower Festival" every year from mid-April to mid-May. Visitors can enjoy the sight of a large wisteria trellis covering an area of about 2,000 square meters, as well as an 80-meter-long white wisteria tunnel. The white wisteria tunnel is made up of tens of thousands of clusters of white wisteria flowers, each measuring 170 meters in length. During the wisteria blooming season, approximately 350 different varieties of wisteria flowers bloom within the park's 100,000 square meter area, creating a breathtaking landscape that makes visitors feel as if they are in a fairyland. During the "Wisteria Story" period, a lighting event is also held. Under the illumination and the backdrop of wisteria flowers, a dreamy space filled with romantic colors is created. The wisteria during the day is already stunning, but at night, illuminated by lights, it takes on an even more mysterious and romantic quality. The clusters of light purple wisteria flowers hanging from the trellis are a particularly popular spot for taking photos to share on Instagram. Every year, starting in late autumn, the park hosts a lighting show called "Garden of Light," where visitors can fully experience a dreamlike world woven together by flowers and lights. This lighting show has also been recognized as one of Japan's "Three Great Lighting Shows," gaining fame throughout the country.
