About Fukuoka Tower
The landmark building that offers a panoramic view of Fukuoka city is the tallest seaside tower in Japan.
Details
Fukuoka Tower was built to commemorate the "Asia-Pacific Exposition" held in 1989 and is a landmark building in Fukuoka City. The tower stands at 234 meters tall, and the observation deck on the top floor offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the Fukuoka cityscape.
In 2019, it was renovated to celebrate its 30th anniversary. With the concept of "enjoying the sky of Fukuoka and sailing through the scenery," it utilizes virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies to allow visitors to experience a world that cannot be encountered in daily life within the "World of the Sky." Notably, the VR binoculars provide a sensation of flying in the air, and the sight of flying saucers and robots significantly enhances the entertainment value.
On the second floor of the tower, there is the "Sky Café & Restaurant Refuge," which offers a view from 120 meters high. The large floor-to-ceiling windows create an atmosphere akin to being in a sky garden, making it a very popular date spot.
Additionally, there are seasonal light displays that are highly anticipated by the citizens of Fukuoka. In conjunction with festivals such as Tanabata, Christmas, and Valentine's Day, colorful lighting events are created to cultivate a romantic atmosphere.
Highlights
Enjoy the 360-degree cityscape of Fukuoka both day and night. The seasonal light displays are quite popular among the locals. You can also appreciate landscapes that incorporate the latest technology. There are romantic cafes and restaurants available as well.
