About Great Naruto Bridge
The bridge connecting Awaji Island and Shikoku offers a stunning view of the whirlpools in the Naruto Strait.
Details
The Great Naruto Bridge is 1,629 meters long and connects Awaji Island and Shikoku. It is a bridge that spans the Naruto Strait, famous for its whirlpools. Combined with the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, it provides a direct connection from the Kansai region to Shikoku, making it a geographically significant tourist route.
Underneath the Great Naruto Bridge, there is a 450-meter-long marine corridor called "Whirlpool Path." Through the glass floor, visitors can see the whirlpools occurring in the Naruto Strait, one of the three major tidal phenomena in the world, from a height of about 45 meters.
On the Awaji Island side, there are facilities such as the "Whirlpool Hill Great Naruto Bridge Memorial Museum" and "Roadside Station Uzushio," where visitors can enjoy Awaji Island's cuisine or admire the spectacular views of the Great Naruto Bridge from telescopes and observation decks.
