In the hilly area of "Biei no Oka" located in Biei Town, Kamikawa District, Hokkaido, there stands a solitary white poplar tree in the tranquil grasslands, affectionately known as the "Ken & Mary Tree." This giant tree, over 90 years old, gained fame after appearing in a 1972 (Showa 47) advertisement for the Nissan SKYLINE. It was named after the couple Ken & Mary featured in the ad.
The vertically growing white poplar is surrounded by seasonal scenery, including summer canola flowers and lupines, autumn foliage, and winter snow scenes, making it a representative sightseeing spot in Biei. It is about 2.5 kilometers from Biei and can be reached by car in approximately 5 minutes from JR Biei Station, making it very accessible. There is also a parking lot available, allowing visitors to park and slowly enjoy the beautiful scenery.
The Ken & Mary Tree is an ideal location for easy access by car, where you can enjoy the stunning views and take beautiful photos.
