The aerial cable car located between Kitahachiyama's Kitakōdake and Shirakabasan operates from the mountain station at an elevation of 1,771 meters to the summit station at 2,237 meters, with a height difference of approximately 466 meters, taking about 7 minutes for the journey. The Kitahachiyama Aerial Cable Car can accommodate 100 passengers and operates year-round. In the summer, it attracts numerous tourists for sightseeing, hiking, and climbing, while in winter, skiers and snowboarders flock to the area, making it a popular tourist destination throughout the year. From the windows, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Yatsugatake mountain range, as well as the entire landscape of Japan's three major Alps: the Southern, Central, and Northern Alps. Upon reaching the summit station, visitors are greeted by the natural art piece "Tsuboniwa Exploration Path," created by volcanic eruptions. Different alpine plants bloom in each season here. Tourists can take a leisurely 30 to 40-minute walk along the circular Tsuboniwa Exploration Path, enjoying the diverse alpine flora and the majestic mountain scenery. Riding the aerial cable car provides a pleasant and easy way to experience the Yatsugatake mountain tour. The climbing route to "Kitakōdake," departing from the summit station, is particularly popular among climbers of all ages. Both the mountain station and the summit station feature shops, cafes, and restaurants. They sell souvenirs made from the local specialty "blueberries" and offer regional dishes made with unique Shinshu ingredients, allowing visitors to dine and purchase local products on their way back.
