The rock layers of the Nagasaki Peninsula date back to the dinosaur era, approximately 81 million years ago. The Nagasaki City Dinosaur Museum is a dinosaur-themed museum that showcases around 180 fossil specimens discovered from these layers. The permanent exhibition hall is divided into five main categories, including "Nagasaki City Rocks and Strata," "Dinosaur Era," and "Evolution of Mammals," providing visitors with a clear and easy-to-understand explanation of basic knowledge about dinosaurs.
Particularly noteworthy is the area filled with the charm of Mesozoic organisms. Here, visitors can touch real Triceratops horn fossils and see a replica of the world's largest Tyrannosaurus rex, also known as "Rex." There are also impressive robotic dinosaurs that move their bodies, along with numerous unique displays that captivate the audience.
In addition, there are guided tours led by curators and educational staff, as well as hands-on workshops related to dinosaurs, offering a wealth of engaging content waiting for you. The museum shop also sells a variety of exclusive designed products, including T-shirts and eco-bags featuring cute Tyrannosaurus illustrations.
