About Otonashi Shinsui Park (音無親水公園)
Stroll along the stone-paved banks in the city center and listen to the babbling of the stream.
Details
Onianzumi Shinsui Park is a park built using the old riverbed of the former Shakujii River. Known locally as “Mute River,” the Shakujii River has long been a popular sightseeing spot throughout the seasons. To restore the river that once flowed here, this park was constructed. Although the park is located near the bustling JR "Oji" Station and has convenient transportation, it is a place where people can escape the noise of the city and quietly enjoy leisurely moments. It has been selected as a model urban park and is included in the "100 Best Urban Parks in Japan."
Highlights
You can enjoy the beauty of different seasons, such as streams in spring with cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. There are also revamped attractions, like the "Kongenshu Waterfall" (權現之瀑布), one of the Seven Waterfalls of Prince, as well as the Funakusa Bridge, which was washed away by a typhoon in Showa 33 (1958). The park is cool and pleasant in the summer, attracting many children to play in the water. The artificial stream uses recycled water that has been purified through filtration equipment.
