🗺️ Sapporo Sun Plaza Aquariumサンピアザ水族館

Adjacent to the large shopping center "Taiyo Plaza" in Sapporo, this urban aquarium is conveniently located near both JR and subway stations. Although the exhibition space is small, it features many highlights worth seeing, showcasing approximately 200 species and a total of 10,000 creatures through carefully designed display areas. The exhibition space is divided into two floors. The first floor displays fish from the waters of Hokkaido, coral reef marine fish, crustaceans, and more. There is also a feeding show featuring around 1,500 fish, conducted by staff (held on Sundays and public holidays), as well as a "Touch Pool" where visitors can touch starfish or crabs. On the second floor, visitors can find fish with rare colors and shapes, and observe the electric eel in action. This floor also features animals that inhabit the shore, such as penguins and seals. The display area where visitors can closely watch the adorable movements of penguins and Asian small-clawed otters is particularly popular. There are scheduled feeding times for the spotted seals, Asian small-clawed otters, and Humboldt penguins, allowing visitors to observe their eating habits.
