About Senbon Sohonten Karuizawa Main Store
Established in Showa 23 (1948), this long-standing dessert shop offers kakigori made from natural ice from Karuizawa all year round.
Details
Established in 1948 in the "Old Karuizawa Ginza Street," this long-standing dessert shop offers not only its signature "Senbon Mochi," made with brown sugar and Shinshu walnuts, but also soba and udon noodles suitable for lunch.
The most popular dessert is the "Natural Shaved Ice," made from natural ice sourced from Karuizawa. This natural ice, which has been frozen for a long time, melts more slowly, reducing the likelihood of headaches that can occur after eating ice.
The "Uji Milk Kintoki" is drizzled with freshly brewed matcha, with red beans and condensed milk hidden at the bottom of the bowl, allowing customers to adjust the sweetness to their liking. The combination of the bitter-sweet matcha and the crunchy shaved ice creates a perfect texture, making it easy to enjoy even the large portion in just a few bites.
In addition to "Uji Milk Kintoki," the natural shaved ice also offers a variety of refreshing flavors such as "Summer Citrus" and the rare "Lime," enticing customers to return for another visit.
